Overnight full off-ramp closures on US 6: I-25 to Perry Street project
DENVER COUNTY — Overnight work is expected to occur Tuesday night, August 20 at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, August 21 on the north and southbound off-ramps from I-25 to westbound US Highway (US) 6 in Denver.
Work will include installing overhead signage, removing pavement marking, and restriping pavement on the off-ramps from north and southbound I-25 onto westbound US 6. The overnight closures are required to ensure the safety of motorists and crews during the project. The goal of this work is to reduce traffic congestion in this heavily traveled area.
TRAVEL IMPACTS
- Full closure of the off-ramps from north and southbound I-25 to westbound US 6 during overnight work.
- Motorists can anticipate five to ten minute delays.
- Detours are as follows:
o Southbound I-25 motorists should use Alameda Avenue as an alternate exit and connect back with US 6 via Federal Boulevard.
o Northbound I-25 motorists should still use US 6 as an exit but will be directed to eastbound US 6 where they can turn around at Santa Fe Drive to 7thAvenue to Kalamath Street and get onto westbound US 6.
- The mainline of westbound US 6 will remain open; the only closure is the off ramps from north and southbound I-25 onto WB US 6.
- Ramp closures will be lifted after working hours.
- Speeds will be reduced to 45 MPH during signage installation operations.

BACKGROUND
Specific work on this project will include replacing guardrail on US 6 from I-25 and extend approximately 1.1 miles to Perry Street in Denver County. This project will also replace signage and complete final striping in the area. Work is expected to end in August 2019.
Regular work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Overnight work will occur as necessary.
Jalisco International, Inc. of Commerce City, CO is the prime contractor on this $477,794 project.

- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
