La Plata County — The Colorado Department of Transportation will be filling potholes on a US Highway 550 bridge structure approximately four miles north of the New Mexico state line, located between County Roads 213 and 318. The two-day road maintenance operations will take place Monday and Tuesday next week, April 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Traffic Impacts

  • Travelers will encounter temporary traffic signals on both approaches to the bridge
  • Drivers will be stopped and guided through a one-lane alternating traffic configuration at the work zone
  • Traffic stops should be brief, 10-15 minutes
  • Drivers should slow down when approaching the work zone and watch for flaggers, work crews and heavy equipment

  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.

  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
