Data & Statistics Overview

The Safety Programs, Data and Analysis unit includes a Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) program which is partially funded by NHTSA. FARS is a nationwide census providing NHTSA, Congress and the American public annual data regarding fatal injuries suffered in motor vehicle traffic crashes.  Access the FARS Encyclopedia.

Early Fatal Notification Form (for Law Enforcement Agencies)

The dashboard below represents the most current number of vehicle occupants or non-motorists killed in crashes involving a motor vehicle along Colorado public roadways based on fatal crash early notification data. All crash data listings, reports and dashboards are protected under 23 U.S.C. Section 407.

Disclaimer: Suspected impairment typically reflects the officer's opinion of any driver or non-motorist involved in a fatal collision at the time of the crash. Actual results may be subject to change based on further crash investigation or toxicology screenings. Once received, officials toxicology results are submitted to the NHTSA FARS database which may not match the initial assessment provided here.
