District 7: Barbara Bowman
Counties Representing: Chaffee, Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Lake, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, Pitkin, and Summit counties.
Barbara was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Recreation. She lived and worked in Germany for 8 years and has traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. Her work experience includes management and sales in the travel agency, hotel, and destination marketing industry segments.
Barbara retired from Visit Grand Junction after 27 years and then took a position as Interim Executive Director for Visit Durango. She currently contracts with the Colorado Tourism Office working on the Care for Colorado program and International Inbound Travel.
Past honors include an appointment by the Governor to serve on the Colorado Tourism
Office Board, being elected to the National Tour Association and Tour Colorado Board
of Directors and President of the Rotary Club of Grand Junction. Some of her awards
include the Colorado Individual Contribution to Tourism, Chairman’s Award from the
Colorado Tourism Office, Supplier of the Year for Colorado Meetings and Conventions
Magazine, National Tourism Association Volunteer of the Year, and the Service Above
Self award from the Rotary Club of Grand Junction.
