Winter Weather extends temporary Lane Closures between Colorado Springs and Monument

February 13, 2013 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) needs a few more nights to complete taking soil and pavement samples after cold and snowy weather delayed its completion this week.

All the work will be done between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., weather permitting.  Contractors are temporarily reducing traffic lanes and lowering the speed limit to 65 mph for short distances on northbound I-25 in the Monument area for the next couple of nights.  Then, beginning on Sunday, February 17, the closures begin on southbound I-25, south of Monument, and move towards Woodmen Road through Friday, February 22.

Samples are needed to help design the upcoming widening project on I-25 between Monument and Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs.

Additional information about the project, which is scheduled to begin in March, will be forthcoming over the next few weeks as CDOT prepares for the start of construction.
