CDOT to Host “We’ve Got Your BAC” Demonstration in LoDo leading up to St. Patrick’s Day Heat Is On Enforcement Period

March 12, 2013 - MEDIA ADVISORY - TRAFFIC SAFETY - DENVER—Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) experts Glenn Davis, Highway Safety Manager, and Darrell Lingk, Director of Transportation Safety, will provide a real-time demonstration of how alcohol consumption affects individuals differently.

Participants, after consuming two alcoholic beverages, will guess their individual blood alcohol concentration (BAC) then undergo a breathalyzer test on camera that reveals their actual BAC. Participants will comment on whether they feel “buzzed” or able to drive before their test result is revealed. Upon completion of the demonstration, participants will be provided with a cab ride home. The demonstration is a CDOT effort to educate drivers and make them aware of Heat Is On enforcement efforts for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend. CDOT will also provide tools and tips for how to keep Colorado roadways safe.
