Lane Closure near Empire on I-70 Monday

March 1, 2013 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the left lane of westbound Interstate 70 near the U.S. 40 Interchange – Empire Junction – on Monday, March 4, for electrical power repairs to the variable message sign (VMS).

Drivers should anticipate traffic slowing and delays through the area while traffic is reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

If further sign testing is necessary, work will resume during the same hours on Tuesday, March 5.

CDOT removed and replaced this VMS late last year.  Upgrading obsolete equipment with new signs allows CDOT to better meet newer network standards and requirements, improve message display (e.g., pixels, characters and LED technology) and more effectively communicate with the traveling public.

Weekly lane closure information about this and other projects is available atwww.coloradodot.info/travel/scheduled-lane-closures.html or by calling 511.  To receive project updates via e-mail, visit www.coloradodot.info and click on the cell-phone icon in the upper right-hand corner.  The link takes you to a list of items you can subscribe to, including I-70 West, Denver to Glenwood Springs.

CDOT’s new smartphone application also is providing drivers with easier access to I-70 traveler information. It includes travel speeds and times, road conditions, incidents, road work; and feeds from CDOT's closed-circuit television cameras and alerts.  Text CDOT to 25827 or download CDOT Mobile from your App store.
