I-25 ramp closures, lane realignments scheduled for week of July 21

July 19, 2013 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Overnight ramps closures set at Woodmen Rd., N. Academy Blvd., Interquest Parkway.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to allow crews to continue work in several areas of the Interstate 25 expansion project in Colorado Springs.

The first temporary closure impacts the onramp from Woodmen Road to northbound I-25. The ramp will be closed for restriping between 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 23 to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 24. Detour: Woodmen Road east to N. Academy Boulevard; N. Academy Boulevard north to I-25.

The second closure affects southbound N. Academy Boulevard (Exit 150) to southbound I-25 for two nights. The first ramp closure begins at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 23 and ends at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 24. The same closure takes place between 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 and 5:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25. Detour: N. Academy Boulevard south to Woodmen Road, Woodmen Road west to I-25.

A third closure impacts the Interquest Parkway (Exit 153) onramp to southbound I-25 for four nights. That ramp closes:

  • 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 to 5:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25.
  • 9 p.m., Thursday, July 25 to 5:30 a.m., Friday, July 26
  • 9 p.m., Monday, July 29 to 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 30
  • 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 30 to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 31

Detour: Interquest Parkway east to Voyager Parkway, Voyager Parkway south to Briargate Parkway, Briargate Parkway west to I-25.

Drivers will see lane realignments in the segment of Interstate 25 between Woodmen Road (Exit 149) and N. Academy Boulevard (Exit 150) July 23 through July 25. The first traffic shift, occurring Wednesday, July 24 at 5:30 a.m., will be in the northbound lanes of I-25. Traffic will shift to the right (east) to accommodate work in the highway median.

The second traffic shift will impact southbound interstate traffic. That shift is scheduled to occur Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 a.m. Again, traffic will shift to the right (west) as work shifts to the median. Daytime speed limits will remain at 55 mph after the lane shifts, but may be reduced during nighttime work. These previously announced lane realignments were rescheduled because of weather impacts.
