US 385 Resurfacing Project in Kit Carson County Complete

August 30, 2013 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has successfully completed a resurfacing project on US 385 south of Yuma County from mile marker (MM) 194.8 to MM 207.6, north of Burlington.

“This project created a smoother drive for motorists, which will also reduce wear and tear on vehicles and lower vehicle maintenance costs,” said Project Engineer Roger Lau. “Additionally, the project helps increase the life of the highway.”

During work, crews recycled the existing asphalt road base and used it to create the new surface. The process helped keep costs down and was also more environmentally friendly than other resurfacing options.

The project, contracted to Simon Contractors for $7.4 million, began in May 2013. It finished on time and on budget.
