Several area highways remain closed until storm ceases and assessments are completed

September 12, 2013 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - NORTHEAST COLORADO — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) continues to keep several highways closed as a result of the storms that began last night. Many of the closed highways have sustained significant damage as a result of flooding, mudslides, rockfall, and other debris.

To this point, many highways and bridges remain closed as a precaution until crews are able to evaluate whether or not they are safe for use. Members of the public and media are highly discouraged from trying to enter closure zones and/or from driving over flooding bridges.

CDOT crews will be working around the clock until the storm subsides, damage to highways and bridges has been assessed, and repairs have been made. In all, approximately 120 employees remain solely dedicated to the flooding situation across Boulder, Larimer, and Weld counties. Assistance from the National Guard will be forthcoming beginning tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
