Maintenance work and Rock Scaling to start on SH 65 (Grand Mesa) at Exit 49

December 9, 2013 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - GRAND MESA –Weather permitting, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews will be conducting maintenance repairs and rock scaling on State Highway 65 (Grand Mesa) at the eastbound Exit Ramp 49 beginning Monday, December 9, 2013.

Crews will close down the eastbound off ramp from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday until the project is complete.

“We are hoping to get this scaling project completed by the end of the week,” said CDOT Deputy Superintendent Todd Blake. “Weather will actually play the biggest part in how quickly we can wrap things up,” he said.

Skiers and snowboarders looking to hit the slopes early, at Powderhorn Mountain Resort, will want to get through the construction before the 9:00 a.m. start.  Otherwise, vehicles will be routed to the southbound SH 65 detour.

The southbound SH 65 detour will take eastbound I-70 to Exit 62, (the DeBeque Interchange), this intersects with County Road 45.5 (DeBeque Cut-Off Road) and returns drivers to SH 65 at mile marker 51. Northbound SH 65 traffic will not be impacted.
