City of Durango Seeks Community Votes for Potential Public Art

February 16, 2018 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5

DURANGO – The City of Durango urges community members to vote for potential artwork to be installed at the intersection of US Highways (US) 160 and 550. The city received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to undertake a community art project. The project is set to install public art pieces in the two long medians at the US 160 and 550 intersection.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is participating in the City’s process for the potential artwork by providing guidance for required right of way permitting. The guidelines emphasize, foremost, the safety of the traveling public, as well as design and installation requirements.

The goal of this project is to engage youth and the community at large in public art.

To view the proposed community designs and processes and to vote for your preferred art piece visit the City’s website:

Votes will be taken until Friday, February 23.
