Phase 5: 12th Avenue/Wadsworth Boulevard Water Quality Pond

This phase will construct a new water quality extended detention basin (pond) located at the southeast quadrant of Wadsworth Boulevard and 12th Avenue. Water quality ponds are shallow depressions designed to protect the environment by filtering pollutants from stormwater runoff before the runoff enters adjacent waterways. The proposed pond will be located on CDOT property adjacent to currently undeveloped land where the City of Lakewood plans to build a new city park. Coordination is ongoing between CDOT and the City of Lakewood to integrate the two new facilities. Design is expected to begin in late 2023 and be completed in mid-2024.
