The safety improvements at the intersection of CO 119 and Airport Road, highlighting the northbound one-way traffic shift on Airport Road indicated by green arrows. A red-shaded widened shoulder along the west side of the road and yellow-coded Bus Lane Only sections approaching the intersection from both the Boulder and Longmont directions. Three purple dashed areas mark the installation of new raised crosswalks at the main intersection to enhance pedestrian safety.

Improvements include:

  • Eliminating left turns from Airport Road onto CO 119
  • Converting Airport Road between northbound and southbound CO 119 to one way northbound
  • Eliminating left turns from southbound CO 119 onto southbound Airport Road
  • Adding raised crosswalks at the turn lanes on southbound Airport Road and southbound CO 119
  • New bus queue bypass lane on southbound C0 119

Design update following June 2022 community meeting: Access from Ogallala Road to northbound Airport Road will be maintained.
