Lane closures begin tomorrow on Grand Avenue Bridge

January 15, 2014 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Geotechnical investigation underway for SH82 Grand Avenue Bridge Project.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS - Weather permitting, crews contracted by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be performing investigative drilling work on  SH82 near the Grand Avenue Bridge between 6th and 8th Streets as part of the preliminary design of the SH82 Grand Avenue Bridge Project.

The schedule for traffic impacts is as follows:

  • Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the Grand Avenue Bridge for the operations.  Work will not affect peak hourly morning and evening traffic before 9:30 a.m. or after 3:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (approximately) traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the Grand Avenue Bridge for the operations.  .
  • Monday, January 20-Wednesday, January 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.(night work), traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the Grand Avenue Bridge for the operations.

The speed limit will be reduced through the area and motorists are encouraged to drive Slow for the Cone Zone!

The geotechnical investigation is being performed as part of the preliminary design of the SH82 Grand Avenue Bridge Project to determine the underground conditions such as soil types and structure, bedrock, and water table at proposed bridge foundation locations.  Anticipated completion of this work is by Thursday morning, January 23.
