US 34 Closed in Both Directions Near Drake Overnight Wednesday, January 29

January 22, 2014 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Closure will allow Larimer County to rebuild Idlewild Bridge near Drake.

LARIMER COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be closing US 34 in both directions at mile post 78 (Idlewild Lane) to enable a Larimer County contractor to repair the Idlewild Bridge two miles east of Drake. The closure will begin Wednesday, January 29 at 9 p.m. and will last until Thursday, January 30 at 3 a.m. During the closure, no traffic will be allowed through, as crews will be placing bridge girders over the Big Thompson River.

Alternate routes are strongly advised, including US 287 to State Highway 66 to US 36 from Loveland to Lyons into Estes Park. Work on the US 36 emergency flood reconstruction project is being coordinated with this closure on US 34, which will re-connect the Idlewild area with US 34 and also supports Larimer County’s flood recovery efforts.
