DENVER –Winter weather is projected to move into the Denver Metro area Sunday and into Monday and the full closure of Federal Boulevard and 5th Avenue that was scheduled to take place tonight, May 9 beginning at 9 p.m. and remain in place through 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 12 has been postponed. The work has been rescheduled for next weekend and crews are looking to implement the closure Friday, May 16 at 9 p.m. and the intersection will remain closed through 5:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19.

The Knox Court Bridge will reopen today, May 9. Rebuilt in only 85 days, this bridge is the first of six bridges to reopen as part of the US 6 Bridges Design Build Project. The new bridge is wider by 10 feet accommodating the new 8.5 foot sidewalks and new bike lanes. These changes will provide increased safety for pedestrians, cyclists and commuters to better serve the community.

The $98 million US 6 Bridges Design-Build Project will replace six obsolete bridges on US 6 between Knox Court and I-25, improve traffic movements in the I-25 and US 6 interchange and enhance driver safety by eliminating several traffic weave movements along US 6 between Federal Boulevard and I-25. Substantial project completion is planned for August 2015.
