US 36 Closures Moved to Tonight and Tomorrow Night for Sheridan and Bikeway Bridge Deck Pours

May 20, 2014 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Full US 36 closures on May 20 and 21.

Due to machinery mechanical issues, the closure for the Sheridan bridge deck pour, originally scheduled for last night, will be moved to tonight, May 20. Eastbound and westbound US 36 will be closed, 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for approximately a quarter of a mile on each side of the Sheridan Boulevard bridge.

On Wednesday, May 21, US 36 will be closed between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard, 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., to pour the deck of the bikeway/utility bridge.

On May 20, traffic will be detoured at the US 36 off-ramps to Sheridan and routed immediately back onto eastbound and westbound US 36 via the on-ramps. On May 21, there will be a separate eastbound detour route and westbound detour route to direct traffic around and back onto the highway.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1 is currently under construction from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior and will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2 from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Broomfield recently began construction and will open in 2016.
