Construction of Roundabout on SH 133 to Begin This Week

June 4, 2014 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - CARBONDALE, COLORADO-On Wednesday, June 4, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began to construct the east portion of a roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 133 (SH 133) and Main Street in Carbondale.

This portion of the project requires the closure of east Main Street to through traffic for approximately 6-8 weeks.

During this phase of construction motorists are to expect increased delays and congestion.  Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are encouraged to utilize signed detours.


  • Motorists traveling to and from east Main Street and SH 133 are encouraged to utilize the signed detour on Colorado Avenue and 8th street.  A temporary traffic signal has been installed at this intersection.

  • Pedestrians and cyclists traveling along SH 133 are encouraged to utilize the signed detour, which includes temporary crosswalks at SH 133 at city market, west Main Street, and SH 133 and Colorado Avenue.

  • Pedestrians and cyclists traveling to and from east Main Street and SH 133 are encouraged to utilize the signed detour between Colorado Avenue and east Main Street through the public parking lot.

  • All business access will remain open at this time.  East Main Street will remain open during this time, accessed via the detour.
