Project Underway to Improve the Surface of US 160 over La Veta Pass

June 13, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - COSTILLA COUNTY, CO –The Colorado Department of Transportation has begun a project to resurface nearly 10 miles of US 160 over La Veta Pass in Costilla County.

The roadway will be resurfaced in two stages. The first layer of asphalt will smooth rough areas in the roadway surface and the second will be a two-inch asphalt overlay. The work will also make guardrail adjustments, clean culverts, improve shouldering material and provide new striping.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:  Through mid-August, motorists can expect some single-lane closures and a reduced speed limit, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
