I-25 North Express Lanes 50 Days of Summer

July 18, 2014 - Metro Denver Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Denver Metro Area – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began the I-25 North Express Lanes project along a 6-mile stretch of I-25 from US 36 and 120th Avenue.

For this project, one HOV/tolled Express Lane will be added in each direction of I-25 and will connect with the existing I-25 Express Lanes system. Over the weekend of July 26, a single lane on Northbound I-25 will be closed between 84th Avenue and Thornton Parkway from Friday, July 25 at 10 p.m. to Monday, July 28 at 5:30 a.m. The on-ramp to northbound I-25 at 84th Avenue will also be closed.

The work being done during this 50 day work period will accommodate the lowering of I-25 pavement underneath the 88th Avenue . This work will improve the vertical clearance by approximately one foot. This weekend closure and the work to follow will impact thousands of motorists. In addition, other impactful closures will be implemented throughout the project including another weekend single lane closure in August.

Improving our roadways is critical to meeting the transportation needs of Colorado and with limited funding to keep up with the demand for improvements and improved mobility, Colorado is looking at innovative methods of improvement. Express Lanes are one of those methods of improvement and this corridor has been selected to reap the benefits.

Project experts from the Colorado Department of Transportation and Flatiron Constructors will be on hand to give an overview of the project, details on the lowering of the I-25 pavement underneath the 88th Avenue bridge and can answer questions related to the project and the impacts it will have for motorists as well as questions related to bringing Express Lanes to Colorado.
