Work to Begin on I-70 Bridge Project near Vail

August 1, 2014 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - EAGLE COUNTY —On Monday, August 4, two I-70 bridge improvement projects will begin in the Eagle/Vail area of Eagle County.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project consists of repairing and rehabilitating both the eastbound and westbound bridge structures located near mile marker 168.7, at the point where I-70 crosses over both the Eagle River and Highway 6. More specifically, work includes girder repair, bridge deck repair and repaving.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:  Temporary crossovers will be installed in the I-70 median and traffic will be re-directed to enable bridgework.  Construction hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. Nightwork could be expected. Speeds will be reduced in the area and vehicles over 11 feet will be restricted.

Structures, Inc. of Englewood, Colorado is the contractor for the $8.1 million project.  It is scheduled for completion before July 2016.
