CDOT Region 5 Maintenance Activity Update: October 18-25

October 16, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - SOUTHWEST/SOUTH-CENTRAL COLORADO – The following are this upcoming week’s maintenance activities that impact travel within CDOT Region 5’s two maintenance sections. (Numerous additional projects will be underway, but may only impact shoulders and/or cause only brief impacts in a mobile work zone).

Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with extra caution whenever work vehicles or flashing lights are seen. Thank you for driving “Slow for the Cone Zone!”

Area:  Rico North and South

Location:  SH 145, Mile Point (MP) 32 to 60 (Rico is at MP 47)

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 10 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., some day work possible Monday through Friday

Description:  Shoulder work, mostly done at night; if day work underway, some brief lane closures could be in effect.

 

Area:  Dolores North, North of Dove Creek

Location:  SH 145, Mile Point (MP) 20 to 32; SH 141 MP 22-28.5

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Description:  Roadside mowing, some brief lane closures could be in effect.

 

Area:  North of Dove Creek

Location:  SH 141 MP 19-24, spot locations

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and some day work possible Monday through Friday

Description:  Ditch cleaning, shoulder restoration; some brief lane closures could be in effect.

 

Area:  South of Durango

Location:  SH 172 MP 18-20

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Description:  Ditch cleaning; some brief lane closures could be in effect.

 

Area:  Red Mountain Pass

Location:  US 550 MP 81

Duration:  10/21 through 10/22, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Description:  Slope stabilization/repairs to water erosion; expect single-lane, alternating traffic and up to 15-minute full traffic stops.

 

Area:  North of Ridgway

Location:  US 550 MP 105.5 to 108

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Description:  Highway crack sealing; expect single-lane, alternating traffic and delays of 15-minutes maximum.

 

Area:  Buena Vista

Location:  US 285, Mile Point (MP) 138.5 to 140.5 at Chaffee County Road 270

Duration:  10/3 through 10/30, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Description:  Resurfacing; speed limit reduced to 40 mph, single-lane, alternating traffic with delays.

 

Area:  North of Antonito

Location:  US 285, Mile Point (MP) 7.55 to 7.80

Duration:  10/20 through 10/24, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Description:  Bridge work; speed limit reduced and some single-lane, alternating traffic, minor delay.


*CDOT’s Region 5 includes the counties of Montezuma, Dolores, San Miguel, southern Montrose, Ouray, San Juan, La Plata, Archuleta, Mineral, Chaffee, Saguache, Rio Grande, Conejos, Alamosa and Costilla. There are two Maintenance Sections (headquartered in Durango and Alamosa), six Maintenance Areas (with offices in Durango, Ridgway, Cortez, Alamosa, Monte Vista and Salida) and numerous Maintenance Patrols within those Areas. Each Maintenance Section also has a “Special Crews” division for Section-wide support work, including avalanche control, facilities maintenance, culvert work and more.
