US 34 East permanent flood repair work will require one lane traffic control next week

November 28, 2014 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - GREELEY – US 34 east of Greeley will be under one-lane traffic control between 8AM – 4PM on Tuesday, December 2nd through Friday, December 5th, weather permitting.

GREELEY – US 34 east of Greeley will be under one-lane traffic control between 8AM – 4PM on Tuesday, December 2nd through Friday, December 5th, weather permitting. Some delays are anticipated during the flagger operation.

This temporary lane reduction is necessary to prepare, pave and stripe a realigned temporary road around the ‘big hole’ east of the US 34 Business intersection that was created by the September 2013 flood event. Traffic will return to one lane in each direction every evening. After Friday, December 5th, motorists can expect traffic operations to return to one lane in each direction. Additional limited lane closures may be necessary to move traffic onto the realigned temporary road. Keeping US 34 open during construction is a CDOT priority.

Once the realigned temporary road is complete, the contractor will be able to continue new bridge construction and bridge approach work. This realignment was identified by the project team as a way to shorten the duration of the project.

Construction is scheduled to continue through the winter and be complete by mid-summer 2015.
