Crews to pave Straight Creek Bridge May 24-25 on westbound I-70

Commercial truck traffic to be diverted over Loveland Pass for crew safety in work zone

SUMMIT COUNTY—CDOT crews will be milling and paving the westbound I-70 bridge at mile point 205 from 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25. Variable message boards (VMB) will alert westbound-traveling commercial vehicles of the detour route over Loveland Pass.

Updated road conditions are available at www.cotrip.org or by calling 511 from anywhere in the state. Up-to-date information is also available via Twitter (@coloradodot), and be sure to like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/coloradodot.

Trucks that fail to divert to Loveland Pass will be turned around at the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial tunnels.

"The decision to divert trucks over Loveland Pass has everything to do with the safety of our crews in the work zone," said Todd Andersen, CDOT supervisor. "Our concern is that if trucks coming down Straight Creek encounter brake trouble, something that can occur at this location, there is no way to alert our team on the ground."

If inclement weather moves in, CDOT will reevaluate the project for moving forward this week.
