Work to Begin on US 24 and US 285 in Park County

May 13, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Rehabilitation of US 24 and US 285 to take place over summer, fall

PARK COUNTY — On Monday, May 16, 2016, The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing work on US 24 and US 285. Project work includes asphalt milling, HMA paving, guardrail replacement, inlaid epoxy pavement marking, CMP culvert, embankment, and scour repair at Structure I-13-I with soil riprap.

Project work on US 24 extends from mile point 225.57 to mile point 235. Work on US 285 extends from mile point 161.79 to mile point 172. Work is expected to be completed by October 2016. A & S Construction, of Cañon City, CO, is the prime contractor on this $3,847,000.00 project.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Work will be done Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On US 24, there will be single lane closures during working hours. On US 285, there will be single lane closures Tuesday-Thursday and shoulder closures Monday and Friday. Travelers should expect delays. Speeds on both highways will be reduced to 55 MPH through the work zone; and further reduced to 40 MPH during certain work periods. There are no oversize vehicle restrictions. No night or weekend work is planned during this project.
