TRAVEL ADVISORY: Rock blasting scheduled tomorrow on US 50 Blue Creek

August 16, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - One traffic stop scheduled-motorists will experience delays

GUNNISON COUNTY— Tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 17 crews will be performing rock blasting as part of the Blue Creek reconstruction project.  The mile points on this project are 121-123.  Traffic will be stopped by 9:45 a.m. and then blasting will commence around 10:00 a.m. Crews will then clear any debris and the highway will be reopened.  Motorists should expect to be stopped for about 30 minutes.

Crews anticipate repeating this operation again next week, Tuesday, Aug. 23.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Crews will hold traffic for about 30 minutes and then the queue will be released. Traffic will be alternating through the work zone in one lane so there could be additional delays to clear the traffic queue.  Motorist traveling westbound on US 50 could utilize CO 92 to Delta as an alternate route.
