Work to Begin on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs

August 8, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Asphalt work will ensure a safe Interstate for all commuters

EL PASO COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation on August 10 will begin construction southbound on Interstate 25 at mile point 139.70 at Nevada Avenue, and end north of the Lake Avenue exit at mile point 138.20 on Interstate 25. This project will include asphalt work, replacement of bridge joint, and deck repairs. All work for this project is expected to occur overnight.

All work on the project is expected to be completed in early 2017. Schmidt Construction of Colorado Springs, Colorado, will perform as prime contractor on this $5.2 million project.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Drivers should anticipate single-lane and double-lane northbound and southbound closures during nighttime work hours. Intermittent lane closures and full closures of the US 24 ramp will occur overnight, during the day, and on the weekend as necessary, with detours specified before the project zone. Construction work hours will run from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday night. Flaggers will be directing traffic during work hours, and closures will be lifted during non-working hours. No height or width restrictions will be in place.
