Overview
There are two annual national Safe Routes to School events. Celebrations organized by individual schools or communities are great opportunities to encourage walking, bicycling and rolling, get kids practicing their skills, and for parents and caregivers to experience how safe and fun it is for their children to walk and bike to and from school.
National Walk and Roll to School Day is coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and we hope you have a fun event planned. Feel free to celebrate on any day in October that best fits your schedule, and don't forget to register your event at walkbiketoschool.org.
To support your celebrations, the Colorado Department of Transportation is again offering free customizable posters available for download in English and Spanish to our Safe Routes to School partners. Please click the links below to download:

The next Bike and Roll to School Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5, 2027. For the most recent Bike and Roll to School Day held on May 6, 2026, CDOT provided free stickers and downloadable posters to support celebrations across the state.
