Lane Closures Begin Tonight on I-25 at State Highway 392

April 9, 2012 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Nightly closures will continue through Friday morning.

LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — Beginning tonight, April 9 at 8 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will have nightly single-lane closures on northbound and southbound I-25 to allow crews to perform earth work and bridge work on the State Highway (SH) 392 at I-25 improvement project. Work will take place each night this week from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday morning.

There will also be closures on eastbound and westbound SH 392 this coming Sunday, April 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. from the Westgate intersection to the west frontage road to allow for restriping and signage adjustments on the project.

Motorists should plan for slowing in both directions of I-25 at the SH 392 intersection and should allow plenty of time to drive through the detour and diversion routes. As always, CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.

Motorists can expect the following lane closures and detour routes this week, weather permitting:

  • Monday, April 9 to Thursday, April 12 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each evening: Single lane closures on northbound and southbound I-25 to allow for bridge work and earth work.
  • Sunday, April 15 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Various lane closures on eastbound and westbound SH 392 from the Westgate intersection to the west frontage road to allow for restriping and signage adjustments.

This work is part of a $17.5 million project that replaces the SH 392 bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate two lanes in each direction as well as a left-turn lane in each direction. There will also be a six-foot bike lane and a 6.5-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The frontage road on the west side of the interchange will be realigned, and the ramps will be designed to accommodate more traffic. In addition, an expanded 90-space carpool/vanpool lot will be constructed in the southwest corner of the interchange.

Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project. The project is being funded by CDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, the City of Fort Collins, and the Town of Windsor.
