Independence Pass Temporary Closure This Saturday Morning for Annual Ride

May 16, 2012 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - LAKE/PITKIN COUNTIES – The pass will close temporarily this Saturday morning (May 19) for the Ride for the Pass, an annual fundraiser for the Independence Pass Foundation.

The pass will close at 6 a.m. and will reopen on or before 1:30 p.m. Those not involved with the ride will not be able to pass. For more information on this annual event (which typically would be taking place before the seasonal pass opening date of Memorial Day weekend) can go here: http://www.independencepass.org/.

TRAVELER SAFETY MESSAGE: Travelers are reminded to always check conditions prior to traveling mountain passes, as spring snowstorms could close them temporarily or slow traffic at times.
