Sign Installation Closing I-25 Tonight; US 24 Tomorrow

May 30, 2012 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is installing new signs across Interstate 25 and U.S. 24 over the next couple of nights, requiring both highways to be completed closed overnight.
  • I-25 southbound CLOSED at 10 p.m., just north of the Circle Drive/Lake Avenue interchange.  Traffic detours south on Nevada Avenue, east on Lake Avenue and back to I-25.  Highway reopens at 5 a.m.
  • U.S. 24 eastbound CLOSED at 10 p.m., just east of Peterson Road.  Traffic detours north on State Highway 21 (Powers Boulevard), east on Galley Road, and south on Peterson Road to U.S. 24.  Highway reopens at 5 a.m.

New signs are being installed to meet updated standards and guidelines, including slight design changes to improve visibility for drivers.
