Work Begins Monday on State Highway 392 Resurfacing East of I-25

May 11, 2012 - UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Project scheduled for completion by December 2012.

LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — Beginning Monday, May 14, 2012, crews from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin work on a resurfacing project for State Highway (SH) 392 directly east of I-25. From the I-25 intersection, where work is currently underway on an unrelated project, to the intersection of State Highway 257 (7th Street), crews will be laying much-needed new concrete and asphalt on a 4.5 mile stretch of the roadway from mile marker (MM) 100 to MM 104.

“The existing roadway is in poor condition, which is visually obvious to those who travel the highway,” said Project Engineer Nicki Upright. “In addition to the rough driving surface, the roadway needs to be repaired so it can last as long as possible. We are looking forward to creating a much smoother surface for motorists, and we are also looking forward to extending the life of the highway in the long run.”

Motorists will start to see activity in the area starting May 14, should plan for minor delays when traveling in both directions of the highway starting in late May, and are urged to build extra travel time. Work will take place on the project Mondays through Fridays from roughly 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with occasional night work required. Details about night work and detours will be forthcoming.

As previously mentioned, CDOT is well underway on a neighboring interchange improvement project at I-25 and SH 392. Since the two projects are directly adjacent to each other and also directly impact one another, CDOT will be providing updates for both projects together at www.coloradodot.info/projects/I-25SH392. Access to local businesses will remain available throughout both projects. Motorists are reminded to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone throughout both work zones.

Lawson Construction is the contractor for the $5.5 million resurfacing project that is scheduled for completion by December 2012.
