Morning Closures of Highway 119 Begin Monday

June 1, 2012 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - GILPIN COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is closing State Highway 119 to traffic for a couple of hours each morning next week, allowing bridge girders to be delivered to CDOT’s widening project outside Black Hawk.

State Highway 119 will be closed between the junction of U.S. 6 and Black Hawk from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on:

  • Monday, June 4
  • Tuesday, June 5
  • Wednesday, June 6
  • Thursday, June 7

While SH 119 is closed, drivers can access Black Hawk and Central City via Interstate 70 to the Hidden Valley Interchange (Exit 243) and the Central City Parkway.

The closures are required because the length of the girders requires full use of the highway to accommodate the numerous curves through North Clear Creek Canyon.
