US 160 Mancos East Resurfacing & Bridge Rehabilitation

August 30, 2012 - PROJECT UPDATE - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Traffic signal at the bridge site will take place of previous detour.

MONTEZUMA COUNTY –The project, which began in mid-July, continues on the east side of Mancos with roadway resurfacing safety improvements and bridge work.

NEW: TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPDATE: During bridge rehabilitation (surface, curb and bridge rail improvements) through October 9, a single lane across the bridge will be closed 24/7. In order to minimize the impacts to schools/residents and local businesses during this full-time lane closure, there will no longer be a detour for eastbound traffic. Rather, a traffic signal is now installed, which allows eastbound traffic as well as westbound traffic to continue on US 160. This traffic signal will take the place of a flagger and will allow each direction of traffic to alternate across the single lane open on the bridge—24/7, through October 9.

GENERAL US 160 TRAFFIC IMPACTSREGULAR US 160 TRAVEL IMPACTS: The project extends from milepost 56 to milepost 63. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be lane closures with single-lane, alternating traffic and delays along US 160 east of Mancos (which will vary depending on traffic volumes for both directions during the construction of this project. There will be no weekend work.

A & S Construction of Canon City was contracted $5.62 million project, which is scheduled for completion on November 23, 2012.
