I-70 Twin Tunnels Weekly Traffic Advisory

November 26, 2012 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – Full closures of the westbound Twin Tunnel on Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs are scheduled overnight this week to install rockfall fencing above the highway.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will implement the following overnight closures:

  • Monday, November 26, 7 p.m. to Tuesday, November 27, 7 a.m.
    Eastbound and westbound traffic reduced to a single lane through the eastbound bore
  • Tuesday, November 27, 7 p.m. to Wednesday, November 28, 7 a.m.
    Eastbound and westbound traffic reduced to a single lane through the eastbound bore
  • Wednesday, November 28, 7 p.m. to Thursday, November 29, 7 a.m.
    Eastbound and westbound traffic reduced to a single lane through the eastbound bore
  • Thursday, November 29, 7 p.m. to Friday, November 30, 7 a.m.
    Eastbound and westbound traffic reduced to a single lane through the eastbound bore

Preparations for head-to-head traffic begin at 6 p.m., with the single lane configuration in place by 7 p.m.  When I-70 is reduced to a single lane, the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph and vehicles wider than 11 feet will not be allowed through the area.
