CDOT performs US 160 crack sealing operations east of Mancos

December 7, 2023 - Southwestern Colorado - Slow down and use caution when driving through the work zone

Montezuma & La Plata Counties — The Colorado Department of Transportation performs month-long surface treatment repairs on a ten mile section of US Highway 160, beginning Monday, December 11. Operations will take place approximately 4 miles east of Mancos, Mile Points 61 to 71. Daytime work hours will range from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Surface treatment operations help treat road damage caused by harsh winter conditions creating a smoother and safer road surface for motorists. Work is weather permitting.

Traffic Impacts

Operations will take place December 11 through 29, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Expect lane shifts guided by signs, cones and flagging personnel
  • A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones
  • Plan for brief delays during peak travel times

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
