Clear Creek Greenway Trail

About the 2026 Trail Courtesy Shuttle

From Friday, May 22, 2026, to Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, the I-70 Floyd Hill Project will offer an on-demand courtesy shuttle to help trail users bypass the one-mile closure. To use the shuttle, trail users will need to head to the east or west end of the trail closure to be picked up. Once you arrive at the shuttle pick-up location, dial 720-760-2718, and the shuttle will pick you up and drive you to the opposite side to drop you off. Expect delays as the driver may be driving other trail users, parked on the opposite side of the trail or stuck in I-70 traffic delays. A maximum of four people are able to ride the shuttle at a time.

2026 Shuttle Schedule

Friday, May 22, to Monday, Sept. 7: the shuttle will operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily

  • If you drive to the trail, please park at the Game Check Station Trailhead and Park, west of the closure, off of the Hidden Valley interchange (Exit 243) near the Veterans Memorial Tunnels.
  • Want to bypass the closure? Take a 30-mile alternative route, via CO 103, between Idaho Springs and Bergen Park. This route is one of the most scenic rides on the western slope and is the entryway to Echo Lake and Mount Evans. This alternative route will add additional time to your ride and is strenuous. Be prepared and plan ahead before traveling.
A map illustrates a section of the Clear Creek Greenway between Exit 243 and Exit 244. A red line indicates the portion of the trail closed since October 2, 2023, spanning from the Hidden Valley/Central City area (Exit 243) eastward past Highway 6 (Exit 244). A red callout box identifies this as an "Active construction zone" with no parking or trail access. A green line to the west shows the portion of the trail that remains open. Blue Star (West): Game Check Station Trailhead and Park, designated as an alternate parking location and west pick-up/drop-off point. Purple Star (East): A pick-up/drop-off location across from Two Bears Tap and Grill near Highway 6.
Clear Creek Greenway Trail closed between the US 6 and Hidden Valley interchanges. Alternate parking location and access to open trail at Game Check Station Trailhead and Park. The shuttle pick-up location on the east end is across from Two Bears Tap and Grill; the shuttle pick-up location on the west end is at the Game Check Station Trailhead and Park.

About the Trail Area

The I-70 Floyd Hill Project requires a long-term closure of the Clear Creek Greenway trail between the US 6 (Exit 244) and Hidden Valley (Exit 243) interchanges for construction and utility work. The closure began in October 2023 and trail users can expect this one-mile portion of the trail to be closed for construction activities through 2029, as it is unsafe for multi-use trail travel. Other segments of the trail will remain open. Visit Clear Creek County’s website to find other trails in your area!
