CDOT conducting daytime chip seal operations on CO 67 on July 18 and 19

July 15, 2022 - Southeastern Colorado - Chip seal operations will occur two miles north of Cripple Creek in Teller County

Teller County — Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be conducting chip seal operations on CO 67, two miles north of Cripple Creek on July 18 and 19. Crews will be working daytime hours, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., in both north and southbound directions. From Mile Point 53 to 57.2, traffic will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic. Traffic will be escorted through the work zone with a pilot vehicle. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH and motorists should anticipate short travel delays. The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
