CO 83 Chip Seal Operations to start on July 21

July 20, 2022 - Southeastern Colorado - CDOT will be working daytime hours 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both directions of CO 83

El Paso County — Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be conducting chip seal operations on CO 83, beginning at the intersection of CO 83 and CO 105 on Thursday. Crews will be working daytime hours, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., in both directions. From Mile Point 28 to 30, traffic will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic. Traffic will be escorted through the work zone with a pilot vehicle. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH and motorists should anticipate short travel delays.   • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
