CDOT to pave multiple segments of CO 151

August 15, 2023 - Southwestern Colorado - Motorists can expect delays over the next two weeks (Aug. 17 through Aug. 31)

Archuleta County — Beginning August 17, the Colorado Department of Transportation will pave various segments on CO 151. Motorists traveling between Arboles and Chimney Rock National Monument should plan for full stops and up to 15-minute delays, Monday through Thursday.

CDOT crews will work as swiftly as possible to complete the surface treatment by the end of the month, however resurfacing operations are weather dependent.

CDOT paving operations will take place on CO 151 from Aug. 17 through Aug. 31. Crews will pave multiple sections of the highway from Arboles north to the US 160 junction.

Traffic Impacts

Daytime work hours range from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

  • Expect one-lane alternating traffic and 15-minute delays
  • Traffic will be guided by cones, signs and flagging personnel
  • Portable traffic signals and pilot vehicles will be used intermittently throughout the work zone
  • Highway exits and access may be limited at times
  • Motorists will encounter 40 mph speed reductions

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
