Project Update

August 4, 2023 - Northeastern Colorado - Detours will be in place starting Aug. 8

Larimer and Weld counties — The Colorado Department of Transportation and the I-25 North Express Lanes Project will have multiple closures along the corridor this month, starting as soon as Aug. 8.

Full closure of northbound I-25 at CO 402, Aug. 8 through Aug. 10

To safely install new overhead sign structures above the active lanes of I-25 on the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, full closures of northbound I-25 at CO 402 will take place nightly, Aug. trough Aug. 10.

Travel Impacts

Full closures of northbound I-25 at Exit 255/CO 402 will take place from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Aug. 8 through Aug. 10

  • Northbound I-25 traffic will exit at Exit 255/CO 402 and turn west. Continue west on CO 402 to CO 287 and turn north. Continue to US 34 and turn east to access northbound I-25

Thursday, Aug. 10, at 7 a.m. through Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 5 p.m., Weld County Road 46, east of Interstate 25 will be closed.

This closure is required for crews to pour concrete manhole aprons on WCR 46 near the I-25 bridge. Work will primarily consist of crews pouring concrete aprons at several locations along WCR 46 to reinforce the manhole structures and create a smoother transition with the road surface. Please follow posted detour signs.

Travel Impacts

Starting overnight Sunday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m., the northbound I-25 lanes of traffic will be shifted to their final configuration. In order to perform this work, there will be full closures of the northbound I-25 on-ramps from CO 56 and 60, and northbound I-25 off-ramps to CO 60 and Larimer County Road 16.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Please visit www.codot.gov/projects/north-i-25, for the most current travel updates. The I-25 North Express Lanes Project: Berthoud to Johnstown section will increase highway capacity by adding an Express Lane in each direction, rebuild interchanges, replace aging bridges, straighten highway curves to improve safety, make major utility and drainage improvements, and add carpool and transit facilities. During construction on the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, motorists should expect speed reductions to 65 mph, minor lane shifts, temporary concrete barriers and median bridge work. Motorists should also expect delays during the scheduled work hours. Construction on the Berthoud to Johnstown segment is expected to be complete in early 2024.
