Additional Training

CDOT's Transportation Engineering Training Program (TETP) offers access to a lot of other training opportunities for consultant engineering staff.

Buy America Requirements and Training

The Federal Buy America Requirements Curriculum can be completed in CDOT's Learning Management System, the State of Colorado (SOC) Learns Training Portal. The curriculum includes two e-learning courses:

  1. Buy America Requirements for Iron and Steel
  2. Build America, Buy America E-learning

If you have questions about the Buy America requirements or the content covered in the e-learning courses, please contact Melody Perkins at [email protected]. More information about the federal Buy America requirements can be found on the Buy America and Build America, Buy America Requirements web page.

Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Training

If you are an external partner and are interested in enrolling in CADD Training, please contact CDOT’s CADD Training Manager, Sahar Alola, at [email protected]. More information and resources for CADD can be found on the CADD Highway Engineering Design Processes web page.

Consultant Selection Training

Interested in completing Consultant Selection Training? Contact Pehle Colletta at [email protected] to find out when training is offered. The Professional Service Contracting with Task Orders e-learning course is available through SOC Learns. Environmental Training

CDOT's Environmental Programs Branch sponsors training for CDOT Engineers and external partners. Classes are scheduled 3-4 months in advance and on an as-needed basis. Refer to the Environmental Training webpage on CDOT’s Learning Lane to see what training is available.

Important: Learning Lane is an internal website for CDOT Employees. Some links may not work for external partners.

Guardrail Systems Field Guide and Training

TETP has a self-paced e-learning course for Construction Engineers and Inspectors to supplement the Guardrail Systems Field Guide. The course explains how to critically approach the installation, repair, or replacement of guardrail end anchorages to ensure that all elements are compatible and properly installed, and that the basic design is appropriate. It covers the basic concepts of guardrail design, including the purpose and functional components of guardrail systems, crashworthiness, tangent and flared installations, and length of need.

External partners can complete the Guardrail Systems for Construction Engineers and Inspectors e-learning course in SOC Learns

Technology Resources and Training

CDOT’s Data Program and Project Analysis website offers software support for CDOT external partners. The website provides resources that include:

Need support? Please email the Mojo Help Desk at [email protected].

Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC)

The federal government requires any person performing quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) on state or federally-funded transportation projects to be qualified. As a result, the Colorado Department of Transportation has implemented the WAQTC soils qualification program for engineering technicians and engineers responsible for sampling, testing and inspections for quality control of soils and aggregate.

Visit the WAQTC web page for more information about the program and to sign up to take the exam.
