Project Update

July 21, 2023 - Northeastern Colorado - Project work and traffic impacts will take place in Morgan, Washington and Yuma counties

Morgan, Washington and Yuma counties — The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a signal pole project on July 31. Work will take place along US Highway 34, in Morgan, Washington and Yuma counties.

The signal pole project will take place on US 34:

  • In Brush, at the intersection of US 34 and Clayton Street starting around the beginning of August
  • In Akron, at the intersection of US 34 and Main Avenue starting around the middle of August
  • In Otis, at the intersection of US 34 and Washington Street starting around the beginning of September
  • In Wray, at the intersection of US 34 and Main Street starting around the middle of September

The project will help to revamp the function and efficiency of four primary intersections along US 34. Work will primarily consist of signal pole improvements at four sites along US 34 between Brush and Wray in Morgan, Washington and Yuma counties. Signal pole replacements have many important benefits including replacing existing span wire signals with permanent poles, installing new signal poles with LED signal heads and more efficient equipment including vehicle detection and pedestrian safety.

CDOT has selected Morton Electric as the prime contractor for the project. Weekly updates will be provided and all real-time closure information will be posted to COtrip.org.

The project is expected to last until the end of December 2023.
